Designing Maria and Jared’s wedding at The Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia, was an absolutely delightful experience. As a florist in Virginia, it was my privilege to bring Maria’s vision of a classic blue and white wedding adorned with natural greenery to life. The venue’s timeless elegance provided the perfect backdrop for our floral creations, and I’m so excited to share the details of this beautiful celebration with you.
Maria’s dream was a white, all-peony bouquet to maintain a classic and clean look. I absolutely adore bouquets featuring flowers en masse, and creating this large and luxurious bouquet for her was a joy. The peonies were locally grown by Toano Botanicals, sourced from River City Flower Exchange—my favorite spot for locally grown blooms. The simplicity and elegance of the all-peony bouquet made it a standout piece, perfectly capturing the essence of her classic wedding theme.
The ceremony took place in the grand main room under a breathtaking floral arch, designed to reflect the grandeur of The Chrysler Museum. The arch featured lush greenery as the focal point, accented with white roses, garden roses, hydrangeas, peonies, and a touch of blue delphiniums. Each hydrangea was individually water-tubed to ensure they stayed fresh and beautiful throughout the night, even in the indoor setting. This arch not only framed the couple beautifully but also added a romantic touch to the ceremony space, making the floral arch feel both luxurious and organic.
As a florist serving Richmond and the broader Virginia area, it’s always a joy to work on weddings that allow for creativity and artistry. Maria and Jared’s wedding at The Chrysler Museum of Art was a perfect blend of classic beauty and modern elegance. The blue and white color palette, coupled with the use of natural greenery, resulted in a timeless design that beautifully complemented the couple’s love story.
