This May, I had the absolute joy of designing the florals for a truly enchanting wedding at Historic Tuckahoe in Virginia. The picturesque garden, lined with crepe myrtles, provided an intimate and romantic backdrop for Shelley and Gilles’ special day. It was the kind of setting that dreams are made of, perfect for any couple seeking a romantic and intimate wedding venue in Virginia.
Shelley’s bridal bouquet was a delightful mix of locally grown blooms, capturing the fresh and blooming spirit of late spring. It featured peonies, honeysuckle, ranunculus, and dappled willow, each flower adding its unique charm to the arrangement. The soft pastel tones tied in beautifully with the natural surroundings, giving Shelley a romantic and elegant look that was both timeless and fresh with that perfect “pop” of pink she wanted. This is the type of floral design that makes me proud to be a wedding florist in Richmond, bringing the beauty of local flowers to life, sourcing from River City Flower Exchange (a collective of local flower farms in Virginia).
One of the highlights of the day was the ceremony arbor, already lush with blooming clematis vine. We added a small installation of flowers to fill in some of the empty spaces, enhancing the arbor’s natural beauty. The ferns in front of the arbor are a permanent fixture, so on-site, I filled them in to create what looked like intentional floral arrangements. Every detail, from the lush arrangements along the aisle to Gilles’ boutonniere, was crafted with love to highlight the natural beauty of Historic Tuckahoe.
As a wedding florist, it’s moments like these that fill my heart with joy. Seeing the love and happiness of a couple on their wedding day, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the flowers we’ve carefully chosen and arranged, is truly magical. If you’re planning a wedding in Virginia, especially at Historic Tuckahoe, I would be honored to design for you.
