Great Marsh Estate: An Early Summer Intimate Wedding in Virginia

I met Abigail and Jace in 2023 during a styled engagement shoot with Zoe Evans Photography. They had just gotten engaged, we were outside in between blooming crepe myrtles, laughing through the shoot, and they were GLOWING with that genuine love and chemistry that speaks through the photos. I remember thinking: these two are magic. The kind of couple that makes you feel like you’ve known them forever- and secretly hoping they’d reach out when wedding planning officially began.

Fast forward to their email a few months later: “We’re looking at Great Marsh Estate as our wedding venue.” And just like that, we were planning for June of 2025!

If you’ve never been, Great Marsh Estate is this tucked-away European-inspired estate in Bealeton, Virginia- straight out of a Jane Austen novel, with the dreamiest back lawn ceremony setup. If you’re planning a Virginia wedding and want timeless elegance with just a hint of whimsy, this is the venue. It is truly one of the most magical wedding venues in Virginia.

From the beginning, Abigail and Jace were clear about one thing: they wanted their wedding to feel intentional and filled with love. Just their people. Their vows. And the beginning of “forever”. It was intimate and real- surrounded by the people who mattered most, just full of joy and meaning. The kind of day that reminds you why weddings matter in the first place.

Abigail (a true Pinterest queen) pulled together an inspiration palette of soft pinks, peach, ivory, and bright greens-classic and romantic but still full of personality. For her bridal, we created a bouquet that felt like it was hand-picked from a storybook garden. I managed to source a few late-season peonies just in time (a miracle!), and her bouquet ended up being one of my favorites I’ve ever made. It was full of Juliet garden roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, and a hint of magenta-veined peonies that tied in all the colors just right. There’s something about seeing a bride hold florals that fits them to a tee- and that was Abigail’s bouquet.

Throughout the day, the focus stayed on the heart of the celebration: connection. They took time to be present with each other and with their people. There was no rush, no packed timeline. Just the freedom to soak in the day.

And that’s what made it unforgettable. Not just the beauty (though there was plenty of that), but the feeling. Their wedding was about love in its most unfiltered form- and it was an honor to play a small role in it.

Zoe Evans captured their day so beautifully (truly one of my favorite galleries to date), and seeing Abigail standing on the steps of Great Marsh Estate, veil flowing, bouquet in hand, felt like watching a real-life painting unfold.

If you’re planning an intimate wedding at Great Marsh Estate, and want flowers that reflect your story, your connection, and your heart—I’d love to dream it up with you.
