The Estate at River Run Wedding: Springy Florals & Soft Aesthetics

There is something undeniably cinematic about a wedding at the Estate at River Run. Overlooking the James River, this award-winning Georgian Revival mansion sets the stage for a spring celebration steeped in elegance, romance, and thoughtful design.

Setting the scene: The Estate at River Run wedding

This 22,000-square-foot mansion welcomes guests with a grand marble foyer, sweeping staircases, gold leaf Corinthian columns, ornate crown molding, and crystal chandeliers. The Wedgwood Ballroom, a two-story space inspired by the iconic brand of fine English china, boasts an oak spiral staircase, marble-framed fireplace, larger-than-life crystal chandelier, and floor-to-ceiling windows with breathtaking views of the river below.

The couple exchanged vows on the Bluestone Terrace, a serene spot framed by sculpted boxwoods and ornamental grasses with sweeping views of the rolling hills beyond, emphasized by six lush arrangements of roses, peonies, and hydrangeas. For the reception, the couple opted for an indoor-outdoor feel, blending the estate’s grandeur with an airy atmosphere. The table centerpieces drew inspiration from historical still-life paintings, combining delicate bud vases with fresh fruit, such as grapes and apples, for a subtle artistic touch.

The garden-style wedding party flowers

With soft pinks and greens, the couple wanted to enhance the grandeur of the estate while keeping the look fresh, styled, and beautifully in tune with the surroundings. The bride’s bouquet overflowed with garden roses, feverfew, orchids, ranunculus, peonies, campanula, and amaranthus. This sculptural arrangement complemented the bride’s timeless, yet fashion-forward look. A flowing train with the perfect touch of drama, Hollywood waves, and a high-cut peak of the leg.

Bridesmaids carried bouquets highlighting a single bloom from the bride’s design, echoing the palette and adding understated cohesion throughout the bridal party. The groom’s deep navy suit accented the subtle touches of blue throughout their wedding, complete with a simple boutonniere.
